Oak, Smoke, Fire… and Rock. Flaming Heart takes its name from a song by M. Ward. For the label of this seventh version, we have made the rock music inspiration still more explicit. Stranger & Stranger, the design agency behind the last four incarnations, created a beautiful framework for the label, drawing on source material from the world of heavy metal posters. They then had a lot of fun layering references to iconic rock acts. Starting with Pink Floyd’s ‘Wish You Were Here’ album artwork, and embracing Led Zeppelin and Captain Beefheart, fans of classic rock will enjoy scouting out the easter eggs.

The whisky inspired by a rock song – on tour again in 2022. Like metal bands, some whiskies need an audience – others command one. Flaming Heart has always enjoyed performing to passionate fans. Oak, smoke and fire reunite for a seventh time, fusing pyrotechnics with deliciousness. The whisky is built around a new power trio of peated malts from the Caol Ila, Laphroaig and Talisker distilleries, while spice from our trademark French oak custom barrels delivers both loudness and a luxurious mouthfeel. As well as being perhaps the fruitiest Flaming Heart of recent years, you will experience a very special encore that combines remnant stocks of Peat Monster Arcana, our release for Belgian importer The Nectar’s 15th Anniversary, and a little of the 2018 version of Flaming Heart. "The 2019 Caves des Lions is a barrel sample of 53% Cabernet Sauvignon and 47% Cabernet Franc, made from free-run juice and set to age about 22 months in 100% new French oak. Opaque ruby in color, it offers explosive cassis and purple flowers on the nose, with streaks of stony and green pepper character. The palate offers loads of perfume and exotic spice, with a chocolaty texture, seamless acidity and incredible length. (Erin Brooks)" (97–99 pts.)

This vintage is the epitome of a terroir-driven wine that has immense power without sacrificing any elegance. The wine explodes out of the glass with boysenberry fruit, crème de cassis, cedar, cigars, crushed stone and lead pencil accompanied by a perfume of violets. Deep and full-bodied, rich with astonishing texture, it manages to stay fresh and balanced throughout with a finish that does not stop.

Balvenie PortWood 21 Year Old 1997 Release 43%

Balvenie was built by William Grant in 1892 and remains part of his family's company to this day. In the early part of its history, its purpose was primarily for the provision of malt for Grant's blends, however following the global success of Glenfiddich, the Balvenie single malt brand was launched in 1973. It remained a rarity though, and it was not until the opening of Kininvie in 1990, and later Ailsa Bay in Girvan, that the distillery was given the freedom to focus on its single malt. Today it is one of the best recognised brands in the world. In 1993 they launched the 12 year old "DoubleWood," an expression credited with pioneering the use of cask-finishing, and this has become a key motif for the distillery's output in recent times. 

First released in 1996, the "PortWood" is a much loved constituent of the distillery core range. This is an older bottling at 43% before the proof was lowered by Balvenie.

A port cask finish gives this Scotch a copper penny hue. The aroma suggests baked apple, while the palate has a chewy, concentrated vanilla-oak profile, leading to walnut, leather and espresso. The rounded finish sings with sherry and spice. Adding water coaxes out baked apple sweetness and dials back the oak.

This is the ultimate PortWood expression from Balvenie and has been finished in 30 year old port pipes. A more vibrant and textured Travel Retail variant is non-chill filtered and bottled at 47.6%. Soft, red grape notes, vanilla, and milk chocolate on the nutty nose. Very discreet smoke. Rich plum flavors in the mouth, dark berries covered in cream, and spicy honey. The finish is long and elegantly drying.

A no-age-statement Auchentoshan released in 2008, Classic is aimed at drawing in new drinkers to malt whisky, and has the easy-going drinkability to do the job. 'Classic' was launched in 2008 to replace the old staple 'Select'.

Auchentoshan distillery is a Single Malt whisky distillery in the west of Scotland. The name Auchentoshan is from Gaelic Achadh an Oisein and translates as "the of the field". The distillery is also known as "Glasgow's Malt Whisky" due to its close proximity to Glasgow and "the breakfast whisky" due to its sweet and delicate nature. Auchentoshan is located at the foot of the Kilpatrick Hills on the outskirts of Clydebank in West Dunbartonshire near the Erskine Bridge.
Auchentoshan was built in 1800. After its foundation, it changed hands multiple times, and was bought by Eadie Cairns in 1969, who rebuilt it completely. Cairns sold Auchentoshan to Morrison Bowmore distillers in 1984. Suntory invested in Morrison Bowmore in 1989. In 1994, they acquired 100% of its holdings. In May 2014 Beam Inc. and Suntory Holdings Limited merged to create Beam Suntory Inc, who are now the owners of Auchentoshan and other Morrison Bowmore holdings.

Aberlour 16 Year has the nose of rich, dry scented floral and sweet raisin aromas with a spicy nuttiness, Its taste is smooth, full, sweet floral and spicy flavors with a soft plum fruitiness and gentle oakiness. It has a long, warm spicy fruitiness.
James Fleming founded the Aberlour Distillery in 1879. James designed the buildings and much of the machinery himself, and personally supervised every stage of the construction. In 1898 a fire destroyed several of the distillery buildings and most of the whisky stocks. Under the supervision of Scotland’s foremost designer of whisky distilleries, Charles Doig of Elgin, the Aberlour Distillery was largely rebuilt.

Over the past 100 years, with modernisation and technology, the composition of the distillery has inevitably altered, though many of the original features are still there and the traditional working character of the place remains unchanged.The distillery produces 3.2 million litres of alcohol each year. Casked at 63.5%, the main age statements of Aberlour single malt Scotch whiskies are the 10, 12 and 16 Year Olds and A’bunadh.

These casks are specially selected every year by Aberlour’s Master Distiller Douglas Cruickshank to be filled ane carefully matured in their warehouses. This maturation ensures the depth of character as well as the distinctive fruitness and spiciness of Aberlour.

Nose: Rich, dry scented floral and sweet raisin aromas with a spicy nuttiness.

Midleton Very Rare 2009 Edition 

This famous blend of whiskies was produced by Jameson's Master Distiller, Barry Crockett. Midleton Very Rare was released in very limited quantities on an annual basis since 1984, until 2012 when it was replaced by the equally desirable and acclaimed Midleton Barry Crockett Legacy. Very few bottles of 2009 were bottled.

Glenfarclas 12 Year Old 104 Proof Single Malt 1980s

An incredibly rare example with a 12 year old age-statement, this 104 proof was bottled for the US market, at a reduced cask strength than the regular 105 proof bottled domestically.

This late 1980s example is the last of its type, carrying an age statement, before it was bottled as the NAS release and before the classic 105 proof was eventually introduced in the US as well.

Tomintoul Glenlivet 12-year Single Highland Malt Perfume Bottle 1 liter The Tomintoul-Glenlivet Distillery is a distillery in Ballindalloch, in the Speyside region of Scotland, producing malt whisky for blends and bottled as single malts. The distillery was founded in 1964. It doubled in capacity when two extra stills were installed in 1974 and started bottling single malt whisky in that year. It produces a range of single malts of different ages, a peated malt, and a vintage malt. The distillery is owned and operated by Angus Dundee Distillers, PLC, of London, England, which also owns and operates the Glencadam distillery. In 2009 Tomintoul entered the Guinness Book of World Records by producing the largest bottle of whisky in the world, containing 105.3 liters of 14-year-old Tomintoul malt whisky.

Highland Park 25 Year Old 1990s / 53.5% Highland Park was built by David Robertson all the way back in 1798. The distillery's relationship with blenders, Robertson & Baxter, saw it acquired by Highland Distillers in 1937, who were subsequently bought by Edrington in 1999, who run it today. The modern Highland Park single malt brand was first officially bottled in the 1970s, with the release of an 8 year old age statement, but distillery bottlings first appeared around the 1950s. The look of the brand has changed many times over the years, but its cult following and popularity has never diminished. It remains one of the most recognisable single malts in the world to this day. This is a 1990s version of the 25 year old, bottled at a variety of cask strengths until the core range was revamped in the mid-2000s when it received a permanent ABV of 45.7%.

Bold and precise, the wine exemplifies the Coombsville AVA by expressing the volcanic soils that run

throughout the estate vineyard. A vivid purple rim surrounds an opaque core while penetrating aromas

emerge from initial cassis and powdered chocolate, expanding to graphite and Herbs de Provence. An

immediate burst of dark cherry and ripe blackberry intermingle with savory herbs and slate-like minerality against a backdrop of balanced acidity and firm tannins that brings tension to the powerful finish.

Exquisite with roasted rack of lamb with butter beans and spring onions. 

Checking in as a blend of 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 39% Merlot, 18% Petit Verdot, and 3% Cabernet Franc, the 2015 Red Blend Elevage reveals a dense purple hue as well as ripe aromas and flavors of red and black plums, candied orange, violets, and flowery incense. Rich, mouth-filling, and medium to full-bodied, It's another satisfying, textured, balanced wine in the lineup.

100% Sangiovese Grosso clone from the southeast-facing Pian Bossolino. The Riserva is only produced in years when the harvest is considered to be an exceptional vintage. The wine ferments in Slavonian casks and then ages 12 months in new and used French oak and 12 months in Slavonian oak – 24 months in wood, 6 months in steel and 30 months in bottle before release.
The 2013 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva (with only 3,900 bottles made) shows a dark and nicely saturated appearance followed by fruit-forward aromas of dark cherry, cassis, spice, moist soil, balsam herb and fresh pine cone. This pretty wine reveals all the classic characteristics of Brunello and they are presented with elegant and lasting intensity. The tannins and acidity are firmly developed in this vintage and pave the way for longer cellar aging potential and future evolution.

Blended of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Cabernet Franc, 5% Petit Verdot and 5% Merlot, the 2014 Proprietary Red EE Tench Vineyard has a deep garnet color. It springs from the glass with bright, youthful scents of baked red and black cherries, blackcurrant pastilles, candied violets and espresso, with underlying hints of sassafras, Sichuan pepper and tobacco. The full-bodied palate is surprisingly energetic and light on its feet, featuring a very firm, rock-solid structure of ripe, grainy tannins and lovely freshness, finishing with loads of persistent earth and mineral layers.

Aged 40 to 44 months, Cincoro Anejo Tequila has aromas of agave, caramel, and dried fruits, with a white chocolate taste, and an elegant finish that is extra long and complex.

The Insignia has an inky dark hue and aromas of ripe blackberries, star anise, cigarbox, clove and sweet mochanotes. Richly opulent with velvety texture and supple tannins, this full-bodied offering envelops the palate in luscious, lingeringblack plum and violets along with layers of baking spices.

Gran Patrón Piedra is an incredibly special tequila, crafted exclusively from the ancient tahona process, and then aged for over three years. This extra añejo tequila is robust and full-bodied - in many ways comparable to a bourbon or scotch while maintaining tequila characteristics. The mix of American oak and French oak barrels used in the aging process creates a sweetness and a hint of dried fruit flavor. Everything about the experience of drinking a Gran Patrón Tequila is luxurious – from the design and feel of the bottles to the beautiful weighted stoppers that top them. And of course, the tequila inside. Gran Patrón Piedra was meant to be sipped neat, or to be mixed into an incredibly sophisticated Old Fashioned.

This ultra-premium tequila is the crown jewel of Clase Azul's lineup. Aged 5 years in Spanish ex-sherry casks, it's bottled in a luxurious handcrafted decanter with 3 precious metals: platinum, silver, and gold.

All the single malt and grain whiskies used in the blend were distilled in 1971, before undergoing a three-part maturation process.

According to The Last Drop, the whisky ‘has all the hallmarks of the 1970s/80s blending style, with a classic, old-fashioned smokiness’.

First blended in 1983 as a 12-year-old, the whisky left over after bottling was refilled into 11 ex-oloroso Sherry butts to age for a further nine years, when a small amount was removed for bottling as a 21-year-old blend.

The rest of the whisky then went into nine oak barrels and was left in a traditional dunnage warehouse for a further 24 years, before the casks were acquired by The Last Drop towards the end of their maturation period.

The blend, which combines more than 40 different single malt and grain whiskies, was bottled at 47.2% abv in June 2017.

Each bottle is sealed by hand with a driven cork dipped in boiling wax, and comes in a green leather case which also contains a 50ml miniature, a certificate of authenticity, a leather-bound tasting booklet and a stopper to reseal the bottle.

Only 1,352 bottles of the 1971 vintage blend are available, and UK stockists can be found on the Last Drop website.

The Last Drop Distillers, founded by drinks industry veterans James Espey and Tom Jago, was acquired by American spirits group Sazerac in September last year.
