Morgeot was for a long time the flagship appellation of Chassagne. Always well representative of the style of this village. The wines are more or less rich depending on the clay content of the soil and the work of the winegrower. The origins of the name of the appellation seem to come from the Latin Margo which means "edge, border". Morgeot is indeed on the departmental border between the Côte d'Or and the Saône-et-Loire, corresponding to an old Gallo-Roman limit. A magnificent 12th century building built by the monks of Cîteaux located in the heart of the appellation which is falling into ruin. When you see the budgets invested in constructing sheet metal buildings from China, that says a lot about our desire to respect our history.
