Red Wine vines de Poboleda

 Today the Priorat Qualified Designation of Origin is one of the most prestigious wine regions in the world. It is unique. It is sublime. It’s pure magic. The town of Poboleda is located in the north-east of the Priorat, at 340m above sea level. The town is located in a fairly open area, with moderate slopes, crossed by the Siurana River and framed by several mountain ranges. In the Priorat, the vines grow on poor, mineral soil. They are planted in terraces at an altitude of between 100 and 700 m. Most of the soil is made up of silicic slate that the people of the area call “licorella”, and it is precisely the licorella that gives Priorat wines their exclusive character. The average production per vine is often less than 1kg, and it becomes a real treasure in the hands of a good winemaker.
