One of the early bottlings of Auchentoshan Three Wood, which first appeared in 2002 - this is from the period before the major packaging upgrade in 2008.
The three woods in question, of course, are ex-bourbon, Oloroso and Pedro Ximenez sherry casks, the latter two of which add a huge amount of depth and complexity to Auchentoshan's gentle Lowland whisky.
It was these early bottlings of Auchentoshan Three Wood that really made people sit up and take notice of the Auchentoshan distillery, which previously was represented on most retail shelves solely by the worthy but occasionally overly gentle 10-year-old. That all changed with the arrival of this bottling, making Three Wood a significant milestone in the Auchentoshan distillery's modern history.
This bottle was part of a private collection until recently. If you have any questions or would like more photos just ask!
