An overdelivering bottle of dry riesling. Gunderloch has been practicing organic for the past five years in the Rheinhessen and tends to pick their Riesling grapes before they ripen too much.

This wine is fermented dry, in line with the preffered style of Riesling in Germany of late. While dry, there is plenty of fruit and floral notes all wrapped up in sizzling acidity. Think mineral water, green apple, unripened stone fruits, and sorrel.

Pale straw in color with green hues. Intense aromas reminiscent of fine dried herbs, white flowers, lemon and lime. The palate shows great length and depth with grapefruit and lime, fresh rosemary, white pepper and a hint of tropical fruit. The wine finishes with a fresh natural acidity which balances the flavor intensity, and a minerality that will reward medium to long-term cellaring.

Founded in 1955 by Alfred Specht, the vineyard of 13 hectares is divided in 40 plots which are located in the area of Mittelwihr and on the more well-known villages of Beblenheim, Riquewihr and Ribeauvillé. The vines are ideally located on the « Under Vosges » hills around these villages. Each plot is worked out separately to get the best out of it.
