Access to sustainably grown, super fresh oysters are one of our favorite perks of living in the Ocean State—after an evening of toasting ISCO’s first year in business over oysters and cocktails, our creative team got to thinking—what would happen if we combined this quintessential New England, all-season treat from the sea with our made-from-scratch spirits? When the answer turned out to be something so very delicious, we knew we’d have to share it with the world! 

To create Ostreida, we perform a distillation using our 100% organic corn neutral spirit and just-hauled-from-the-sea local oysters. Due to our unique process—the only oyster vodka we’ve ever heard of that actually runs a distillation with oysters as part of the process, instead of added in afterwards—the spirit picks up hints of savory brine and complex oyster aromas. We let the resulting distillate rest so the flavors can meld, then gingerly bring the proof down to 80. 

Ostreida Oyster Vodka captures the spirit of the ocean—notes of salty seacoast and savory minerality with a subtle hint of bivalve bouquet on the nose mix sublimely with our spirits’ signature buttery texture. Seaflow, a maritime-inspired gin, is made with local oysters and seaweed. It's naturally ocean blue in color.

The gin highlights the artistry and sustainable commitment of distillers Dan Neff and Eric Olson, said Manya Rubinstein, CEO of ISCO. They make Seaflow from scratch starting with regeneratively farmed organic corn, produced over a two-month-long process to create a creamy, high-proof neutral spirit.

With a fresh citrus aroma, followed by flavors of light juniper, delicate seaweed, smoked kombu, candied fennel, sorrel and peppercorn, Seaflow Gin is made for gimlets, fizzes, martinis, Collins’ and tropical or citrus drinks.

"We’re especially pleased to be collaborating with Loliware on a special light blue colored compostable seaweed-based straw in honor of this exciting launch,” she said. Loliware was recently named one of America’s leading Greentech companies by Time magazine.

This unique bourbon is created from a blend of two very special and distinct blue corns—an organic strain of indigo developed in Kentucky, and a landrace blue variety from Oaxaca, Mexico (“landrace” indicates a plant grown in its original region with a nearly identical genetic makeup to its wild ancestor). We carefully distill this bourbon in small batches before resting it in charred new oak barrels for six to twelve months “to taste”— our goal is to ensure the corns’ flavors remain the star of the show. A unique marriage of cultures and places, Blue Velvet boasts heaps of caramel, chocolate and vanilla flavors and a signature note of blue corn tortillas. Bottled at 100 proof to preserve the rich flavors and robust mouthfeel, it lingers for a lasting finish of toast and oak—a bourbon you won’t soon forget! Best sipped neat, or on the rocks.

Dubbed Ornamental Gin in homage to the ornamental steel that was made on the site we now work on for over 100 years, its made entirely from scratch on site from a base of 100% non-GMO organic corn, just like our vodka. All gins must of course be flavored with juniper, and in addition to this ours includes a very special mix of 15 additional botanicals on top—elderflowers, passion flower, lots of citrus and hops are just a few! After a long, slow and careful distillation, the liquid is left to rest for a month to let the flavors meld. After being slowly proofed down to 40% ABV over a further period of weeks, our gin is finally gently filtered (but not chill filtered, which might affect the delicate flavors!) just before bottling. Works well in all the classics, or on the rocks with a twist. Recommended cocktails: Aviation, Bees Knees, Corpse Reviver #2.

Our vodka starts its life as regionally grown, organic, non-GMO corn. After it is milled to our specifications by our farm partner, we begin the time-intensive process of making our vodka from scratch on site. To create the purest expression of our base material, we cook, ferment and distill our corn in small batches. After a number of these smaller batches are ready, we combine them for a further round of distillation. Everything is then charcoal filtered at least 20 times for an even cleaner, crisper experience. With a uniquely creamy mouthfeel and smooth, lingering finish, our vodka’s distinctive flavor comes from its 100% corn base. True to its name, it stands up both by itself—sipped neat or on the rocks—but also plays nicely with others. Recommended cocktails: Greyhound, Moscow Mule, Vodka Tonic.

Patina perfectly embodies our commitment to superior flavor as well as to reuse and revitalization. In the same spirit with which we create our products out of a reimagined former steel yard in the heart of Providence’s Industrial Valley, we reuse the charred oak barrels initially used to age our Blue Velvet Bourbon to turn our Ornamental Gin into something entirely unique and delicious.

After following the same process to create our gin (using regionally grown organic corn and specialty botanicals), we barrel the resulting distillate at 120 proof in a charred oak barrel once used to create our Blue Velvet Bourbon. After 3 – 4 months of aging “to taste,” we bottle Patina at 90 proof.

A bridge between our clear spirits and aged spirits, Patina is a great option for gin fans who want to try something new and also for those that prefer brown liquors like bourbons to clear spirits. The experience of drinking Patina is entirely different than imbibing ISCO's regular Ornamental Gin—the oak imparts flavors of sweet vanilla and caramel to the floral, herbal gin, creating complex layers that float in your mouth. Recommended cocktails: Fabulous sipped by itself on the rocks, a Bee’s Knees, or a twist on an Old Fashioned.

Introducing Gemma Crystal Vodka!

 

Organic, non-GMO corn from our partner farm is cooked, mashed, fermented and distilled at our facility in small batches. We then further distill this handmade neutral spirit through locally-mined quartz that has been charged in the light of the full moon.

The placement of the crystals in our still creates an additional level of reflux, increasing surface area and modulating distillation temperature to ensure that only the purest molecules continue through.

 

Post-distillation, we gently bring Gemma’s proof down to the Atomic Weight of Quartz, 60.0183 (about 30% alcohol).

 

For consumers looking for a lower alcohol option who don't want to give up beautiful flavor, texture and body. Great for mixing in cocktails, less heavy yet still rich and clean finishing.
